Microstory Contest Winner - Grades 3 & 4 (Prompt B)

A long time ago, there was a little town, and it had no boys to deliver the newspaper. The people needed the newspaper to read the mayor’s announcements. Most girls refused to deliver it because they said that was men’s work. One girl named Penelope said she would be the newspaper carrier.

At first, the people were nervous because they thought she would do a bad job, but Penelope always delivered the paper at the right time. The people changed their minds about girls not being able to do it.

They cheered because one girl changed a whole town.
