A Journalist's Passion

By Edie B, Texas

“So, found anything to write about?”

“Not yet,” I sigh. Writing anything memorable for the school yearbook feels impossible.

We sit in silence for a while, staring into the TV. “You know,” Dave begins, “journalism isn’t really about the subject itself, but rather how you capture it.”

The staticky cheer of tiny people in a stadium floods my ears.

“It’s like the TV— it doesn’t matter what’s on; the picture takes you there.”

I imagine myself in the crowd as the low-res team celebrates. Their joy engulfs me, and I feel myself relax.

My passion for writing emerges once more.
