The family of Mollie Tibbetts has established a memorial fund in her name to benefit Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. To date, more than 270 people have donated over $20,000.

“We are incredibly thankful to everyone who has contributed to Mollie’s fund,” said Laura Calderwood, Mollie’s mother. “Mollie was pursuing her dream of becoming a child psychologist at the UI. She was incredibly generous in her life, so it is fitting that her name will live on by benefiting others.”

The Mollie Tibbetts Memorial Fund for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry will support UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital, which provides a full range of mental health services provided by psychologists, psychiatrists and an array of other professionals to care for children and adolescents.

UI Vice President of Student Life Melissa Shivers said, “Mollie gave back in many ways as a member of the university community, including participating in Dance Marathon and helping patients at UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. We are thankful to Mollie’s family for allowing us to honor her through this fund.”

Calderwood added, “People have shown tremendous love for Mollie by contributing and reaching out to us. We are so grateful to everyone who has shared in our grief. Thank you for exhibiting the values Mollie cherished – kindness and generosity.”
