Tumbleweeds skipped through the Talon Desert followed by a strong wind that seemed to have painted the sky a navy blue color, scattered with little stars. Without a thought, Alaya raced out the door just in time to feel the wind that switched the clear, blue sky to a dark, navy one. Alaya's brother, Nicco, followed her with slight hesitation, just like they always did. Then he smiled and motioned Alaya to sit down with him. When Nicco and Alaya's ripped shorts touched the sand, they both sighed, nearly in sync, the sand was like a big field of pillows to them, soft and squishy.
"Let me tell you something." Nicco said, wrapping his arm around Alaya. "You see those?" Nicco pointed to the scattered stars.
"Yes." Alaya answered. Although they did the same thing every night, they always wondered what the stars were.
"Those are white butterflies." Nicco said, saying another fantasy thought. Alaya believed him like she did every night and responded with a nod and a smile.
