You donŽt need a uniform and shoulder pads to compete against Iowa State this September. Drop off a full-size food and/or hygiene item to help tackle hunger on our campus in a friendly competition against the Cyclones.

- Participate individually. Donate your food or hygiene item to any drop-off box around campus, including at the Food Pantry in the IMU. All items will go to the Food Pantry and count in our competition against Iowa State.
- Form a team. Join forces with your UI student organization or department to support this great cause for a chance to win prizes. Register your group today!
- Make a difference. Your donation helps Hawkeyes who lack regular access to nutritious food. Last year our campus contributed 1,746 food and toiletry items, helping more than 100 Hawkeyes receive an average of 16 pounds of food.
On Sept. 17, weŽll announce the winner of the Iowa vs. ISU competition (whichever school contributes the most items for their campus food pantry) as well as the winning student organizations and university departments.

Join us for the annual Jeanne and Richard Levitt Lecture featuring artist and UIowa alum, Jiha Moon. The talk will be accompanied by a reception celebrating MoonŽs latest mural installation in the museum lobby, One An Other. Moon will discuss the process behind the mural's creation and her studio practice since leaving Iowa.
Completed in July 2024, One An Other is the third installment in the Stanley Museum of Art's Threshold series, and represents the most ambitious site-specific installation to date by the artist. It combines painting, drawing, collaged Hanji paper, and ceramics, and examines the entanglements of, as she puts it, "globalization, identity, and the visual information overload of contemporary society."
One An Other was created with assistance from Andy Moon Wilson, Oliver Moon Wilson, Ysabel Flores, Hannah Keats, Shaun Mallonga, and Carter White.
Moon received her MFA degree at the University of Iowa in 2002. She was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2023 and is currently Assistant Professor of Art at Florida State University in Tallahassee.

Join the long, rich, historical tradition of artists creating in our spaces.
Professional, aspiring, and amateur artists alike, make our museum your muse. The return of this popular program series welcomes guests into the Museum of Natural History's magical gallery spaces after-hours to work on sketching or writing projects with other campus and community artists.
Tell a friend, grab a notebook, and join us on the first Friday of each month. We'll provide a new inspo prompt for each session and will sometimes move about the Museum but we'll always start in the Hageboeck Hall of Birds (Bird Hall) on the third Floor of Macbride Hall. Join anytime between 6-8 p.m. and feel free to participate in a themed creation challenge or work on your own project with our exhibits as inspiration. We'll save the last 15-30 minutes of each session to share what we've been working on, connecting with others (optional, of course!).
Please note, the Museum is typically closed during this time, meaning the main entrance to Iowa Hall (atop the large staircase outside on the east side of Macbride Hall) will be closed and locked. All other building doors will be open, offering access to the Ground Floor of Macbride Hall. Bird Hall is located on the third floor of Macbride Hall and can be reached by stairs or by taking the elevator to the third floor and crossing the auditorium to the north side of the building.

Celebrate Grandparents' Day at the Stanley with a special Sunday with the Docents tour. Discover how different generations perceive art with docent, Laurie Zaiger and her granddaughter, P.J. Huch, as they discuss select art works from the museum collection. They will share how a child and an adult each experience artworks and what they can learn from each other.
This tour is part of the Sundays with the Docents program, where Stanley docents create unique tours to share with our audiences throughout the year. Laurie Zaiger grew up in the Iowa City of the 1950s, Ž60s, and Ž70s doing handwork, sewing, and making art from found materials. She earned her BA and MA in art education at the University of Iowa and taught art at City High School and Mount Vernon High School. She also taught and supervised art education student teachers at the University of Iowa. Now retired and reinvented, she continues to make art and to provide art making opportunities. She is a docent at the Stanley Museum of Art and volunteers in the community for a variety of non-profits, including UAY, Shelter House, Riverside Theatre, and 5224GOOD.

BODY FREEDOM FOR EVERY(BODY) is a cross-country exhibition tour inside of a 27-foot Box Truck celebrating Reproductive Justice, Queer Liberation, and Trans Joy! Newark-based Project for Empty Space is bringing over 200 artistsŽ works inside this truck to cultivate community coast-to-coast.
The exhibition will be parked alongside Gibson Square Park, outside the Stanley Museum of Art on Friday, Sept. 20, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will remain in Iowa City Sept. 17-20, organized by PS1.
The two-part endeavor (a traveling exhibition and an accessible digital database) addresses the importance of agency, autonomy, and choice when it comes to health care and individual identity.
This project aims to create awareness, cultivate community, and engender support for bodily autonomy through art. This project emerges as response to a relentless wave of conservatism that continues to politicize queer liberation and restrict reproductive & gender affirming healthcare. The overarching message of this program is broadening awareness of the right to Safe, Legal, and Accessible healthcare that allows us to live in our power and choice.

Join us for a panel discussion exploring the power of art and information in the face of censorship. This collaborative event by the Stanley Museum of Art, the Obermann Center for Advanced Studies, and the Iowa City Public Library will explore the enduring impact of Keith Haring's work in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We'll discuss the historical and contemporary implications of banned books on sexual health and the importance of unrestricted access to information.

The University of Iowa Latino and Native American Alumni Alliance (LaNAł), in collaboration with the Latino Native American Cultural Center (LNACC) and the Division of Student Life, is thrilled to announce a momentous event: "Celebrating 50+ Years of the LNACC."
This event will bring together University of Iowa Latino and Native American alumni to share our stories and look to the future. While the event focuses on alumni, it will also draw current UI students, faculty, staff, and community members through speaker presentations, panels, social events, art and music presentations, and workshops.
Iowa WritersŽ Workshop alumni Joy Harjo (78MFA), Sandra Cisneros (78MFA), and Juan Felipe Herrera (90MFA) will join us as special guest speakers, and Brenda Child (83MA, 93PhD) will serve as moderator. Registration is $75 and includes breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, appetizers on Saturday evening, speaker events, tours/exhibits, a T-shirt, and various swag items. Guest registration (partners, children ages 13+) is $25/guest and does not include a T-shirt.
Our theme - "Sharing Our Stories, Looking to the Future" - encompasses our event goals:
- Supporting the continued success of the LNACC and Latino and Native American students.
- Ensuring our history is preserved through the LNACC Archives at the UI Main Library.

Test your college football video game skills in a charity tournament at Kinnick Stadium, with proceeds benefiting University of Iowa Health Care Stead Family ChildrenŽs Hospital!
Registration is $25, though all gaming participants must also raise a minimum of $200 to participate in the single-elimination, bracket-style tournament.
Due to venue capacity, this tournament will be limited to 240 participants. The first 240 to reach their $200 fundraising minimum (not counting their registration fee) will earn a bracket spot.
The games will be played on PlayStation 5, and participants must be 16 or older. Prizes will be awarded to the top three individual fundraisers and the tournament champion and runner-up.
Spectators may pay the $25 registration and come enjoy the event festivities at the Ted Pacha Family Club. Spectators can try the new video game in the free-play area, watch the tournament action, and participate in a silent auction and the Championship Game Wave.

Registrants who raise at least $200 but are not one of the first 240 to get a bracket spot will still gain access to Duke Slater Field, where they can meet Iowa football players and coaches, hear stories from families who have had a child receive care at Stead Family ChildrenŽs Hospital, and more!
Those who raise $500 or more will get to tour the HawkeyesŽ locker room and tunnel.

Sit in on a one-of-a-kind evening with writer and Iowa graduate Tracy Kidder, "a master of the nonfiction narrative" (Baltimore Sun), as he reflects on his lengthy literary career and reads from some of his bestselling work.
The event will feature a conversation about the power of long-form investigative writing between Kidder and renowned author Stuart Dybek (73MFA), as well as a Q&A session and book signing.

The author of nonfiction classics such as The Soul of a New Machine and Mountains Beyond Mountains, Kidder is a graduate of Harvard University and the University of Iowa. In addition to being a Pulitzer Prize winner, he also is the recipient of the National Book Award, the Robert F. Kennedy Award, and many other honors.
